Scott Bell is pleased to commit to working with the Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) for another year, mentoring a young person from an under-privileged background. Scott will work closely with the young person, offering advice and support to break expectations, attend university and work toward their dream careers; all in spite of their background.
For many of our young people, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, the support networks and opportunities that many take for granted do not exist. It is the aim of the Social Mobility Foundation to provide these and tangibly improve the social mobility of young people. The Foundation serves 16- and 17-year olds at a critical juncture in their lives. Since its inception in 2005, many of the first students supported by the Foundation have gone to achieve degrees and secure graduate jobs.
With his six years of international experience in financial services, Scott will mentor a young person from an under-privileged background with ambitions of entering the finance industry.
On this Scott said, “I am incredibly excited to continue my work with the SMF. The Conservative party are the party of the ladder. If you are in poverty, we will help get you out, and in to work. We can help you get the skills, training and apprenticeships that you need. We are the true workers’ party – the real party of labour.”
Youth unemployment rose by 44 per cent under the last Labour government; young people were not gaining the skills needed to succeed in life. The Conservative party look after young people - the UK now has the third highest employment rate in the G7. Since 2010, we have reduced youth unemployed by over 40% since forming government.
